Some time ago this blog received a comment<\/a> from Agn\u00e8s Dupuis, a PhD candidate in Montr\u00e9al writing her dissertation on Xi Chuan and translation into French. We started a brief but illuminating (for me, anyhow) correspondence, with her explaining the background of her argument to me via email.<\/p>\n

Recently I came across some of her published translations<\/a> of Xi Chuan’s early work, including three poems I’ve translated for Notes on the Mosquito<\/em><\/a>–“\u00c9cho<\/em>” \u56de\u58f0, my “Echo”; “Il a vieilli<\/em>” \u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u8001\u4e86, my “A Man Ages”; and “Mener un troupeau \u00e0 la mer<\/em>” \u628a\u7f8a\u7fa4\u8d76\u4e0b\u5927\u6d77, my “Send Your Flock to the Sea” (her first translation, “L\u2019automne, en Quatorze Lignes<\/em>,” is from Xi Chuan’s \u79cb\u5929\u5341\u56db\u884c, which we decided not to include).
