{"id":931,"date":"2012-05-21T10:33:10","date_gmt":"2012-05-21T02:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xichuanpoetry.com\/?p=931"},"modified":"2012-05-21T10:35:22","modified_gmt":"2012-05-21T02:35:22","slug":"jade-ladders-poets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xichuanpoetry.com\/?p=931","title":{"rendered":"Jade Ladder&#8217;s Poets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve compiled a list of the poets whose work appears in English translation in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodaxebooks.com\/titlepage.asp?isbn=1852248955\" target=\"_blank\">Jade Ladder<\/a><\/em>, the new anthology of contemporary Chinese poetry edited by <a href=\"http:\/\/yanglian.net\/yanglian_en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yang Lian<\/a> \u6768\u70bc, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/W._N._Herbert\" target=\"_blank\">W N Herbert<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/paper-republic.org\/translators\/brian-holton\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Holton<\/a>, and Qin Xiaoyu \u79e6\u6653\u5b87. The anthology presents the work of poets by birth year, but the work is separated into sections&#8211;lyric poems, narrative poems, neo-classical poems, sequences, experimental poems, and long poems&#8211;so I&#8217;ve put together this alphabetical list of the poets represented. Poets in bold (23, by my count) are those not included in the recent Copper Canyon anthology, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coppercanyonpress.org\/pages\/browse\/book.asp?bg=%7B2855B44E-88A9-48F1-AAB9-FA2388DCDAC1%7D\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Push Open the Window (<\/em><\/a>of whom 19 of the 49 are not included in <em>JL<\/em>; click <a href=\"https:\/\/xichuanpoetry.com\/?p=372\" target=\"_blank\">here <\/a>for that anthology&#8217;s table of contents). Also, since <em>Jade Ladder<\/em> is English-only, I&#8217;m not sure of every poet&#8217;s name in Chinese, and consequently have left some blank.
