{"id":784,"date":"2012-03-10T12:19:35","date_gmt":"2012-03-10T04:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xichuanpoetry.com\/?p=784"},"modified":"2012-03-10T12:19:35","modified_gmt":"2012-03-10T04:19:35","slug":"short-takes-on-long-poems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xichuanpoetry.com\/?p=784","title":{"rendered":"Short Takes on Long Poems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of the month I&#8217;ll be traveling to New Zealand for a conference, where I&#8217;ll be presenting on what happens to Ezra Pound&#8217;s notion of the &#8220;ideogrammic method&#8221; when it shows up in Chinese &#8220;epic&#8221; poetry, specifically the works of <a href=\"http:\/\/yanglian.net\/yanglian_en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yang Lian <\/a>\u694a\u7149 and Xi Chuan. Jacob Edmond has written up some of the details and participants on his <a href=\"http:\/\/commonstrangeness.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/27\/long-poems-symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\">Common Strangeness<\/a> blog:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nzepc.auckland.ac.nz\/authors\/leggott\/\">Michele Leggott<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/epc.buffalo.edu\/authors\/samuels\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lisa Samuels<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nzepc.auckland.ac.nz\/authors\/sullivan\/\">Robert Sullivan<\/a> have put together a really exciting lineup for the <a title=\"Short Takes on Long Poems\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nzepc.auckland.ac.nz\/features\/short-takes\/symposium.asp\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cShort Takes on Long Poems\u201d symposium <\/a>to be held in Auckland from 28 to 30 March.
