I\u00a0<\/span>got a surprise mention from Jacob Edmond<\/a> the other day on his <\/em>Common Strangeness <\/em><\/a>blog: discussing the benefit of getting students to appreciate the role of the translator in poetry translation by having asking “them to read several contrasting translations of the same poem,” he said:<\/p>\n

Bei Dao \u5317\u5c9b and Yang Lian<\/a> \u6768\u70bc … have both been very successful in attracting translators. In the case of Bei Dao, we also have Lucas Klein and Clayton Eshleman\u2019s record of their translation process<\/a> for Endure<\/em><\/a>, which provides insights into the kinds of decisions that a translator must make.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
