[Call for Submissions] Special Feature on Tiananmen (June 2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 June 2019 will mark thirty years since the Tiananmen Square Massacre in Beijing, when the Chinese government crushed the nascent democracy movement led by students and workers. The ensuing decades have brought tumultuous changes to the culture, politics, economics of China and the whole world. To honour the struggle of the democracy protesters, mourn their defeat, and take stock of the last three decades, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal<\/a><\/em> <\/a><\/strong>is convening a special feature of translations and original English works, to be co-edited by Tammy Ho Lai-Ming<\/a><\/strong> and Lucas Klein<\/a><\/strong>, for publication in the June 2019 issue of the journal<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are looking for high-quality and \npreviously unpublished poems, stories, remembrances, essays, and works \nof creative nonfiction, either originally written in English or \ntranslated from any of China\u2019s languages into English, on the topic of \nthe Tiananmen Square democracy movement and its aftermath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please email submissions to submissions@asiancha.com<\/a><\/strong>. The subject line should read \u201cTiananmen\u2014[Your name]\u2014Genre\u201d.
