\"\"<\/a>The New York Times<\/em><\/a> is reporting on a poem by Zhao Xiaogang \u8d75\u6653\u521a, MD, published in CHEST<\/em><\/a>, the official publication of the American College of Chest Physicians, titled \u201cI Long to be King\u201d \u6211\u8981\u5f53\u8001\u5927. Written \u201cfrom the viewpoint of an ambitious lung cancer that revels in the \u2018delicious mist and haze\u2019\u201d of China\u2019s air, the poem has now been gaining international attention. The Times <\/em>writes:<\/p>\n

The author, Dr. Zhao Xiaogang, 40, who is deputy chief of thoracic surgery at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital of Tongji University, opens with a \u201cground-glass opacity,\u201d an image of a CT scan of fluid in the lungs that can indicate a range of disorders, but in this case is the first indication of what will develop into a triumphantly lethal cancer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the article, \u201cDr. Zhao has long written poetry as a pastime. But in 2015, while a visiting scholar at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and at Washington University in St. Louis, he heard that some academic journals published poetry.\u201d No word on who translated the poem, though (presumably Zhao himself?).<\/p>\n
