\"Yang<\/a><\/p>\n

A Massively Single Number<\/em><\/a> \u5e9e\u5927\u7684\u5355\u6570<\/em>, now out from Shearsman Press,<\/span> is an anthology showcasing the work of seven prizewinning poets, chosen from entries to the 2013 Artsbj.com<\/a> International Chinese Poetry Prize, together with critical essays by prominent Chinese poets, and essays by Baz Kwakman and Antonia Byatt. The book was edited by Yang Lian \u6768\u70bc<\/span><\/em>, who was involved in the competition from the very beginning, and was translated by Brian Holton.<\/p>\n

The poets–Cao Shu \u8349\u6811<\/em>, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Liao Hui \u5ed6\u6167<\/em>, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Zang Di \u85cf\u68e3<\/em>, Yu Jian \u4e8e\u575a<\/em>, Qi Ye \u4e03\u591c<\/em>, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Zhong Shuo \u949f\u7855<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>, and Guo Jinniu\u00a0 \u90ed\u91d1\u725b<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>–are mostly new to publication in English, and present a wide range of voices, ranging from the serene and other-worldly voice of the Taoist recluse, to the dispossessed voice of the migrant worker; there is wit, elegance, rough-edged anger, much novelty and startling creativity. The anthology is clear proof that Chinese poetry is alive and well, and going from strength to strength.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
