Maghiel van Crevel <a href=\"http:\/\/u.osu.edu\/mclc\/2014\/11\/03\/poetry-critic-chen-chao-%E9%99%88%E8%B6%85-1958-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Chen Chao made important contributions to scholarship and criticism. Starting from the early 1980s, he wrote numerous essays on individual oeuvres, themes, and texts, and on overarching trends in poetry and criticism.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other publications, Chen served as editor of the 1993 anthology <em>\u300a\u4ee5\u68a6\u4e3a\u9a6c\uff1a\u65b0\u751f\u4ee3\u5377\u300b [With a Dream for a Horse: Newborn Generation Volume]<\/em>, part of the six-volume <em>\u300a\u5f53\u4ee3\u8bd7\u6b4c\u6f6e\u6d41\u56de\u987e\u300b [A Look Back at Trends in Contemporary Poetry]<\/em> edited by Xie Mian \u8c22\u5195 and Tang Xiaodu \u5510\u6653\u6e21; and as editor-cum-author of <em>\u300a20\u4e16\u7eaa\u4e2d\u56fd\u63a2\u7d22\u8bd7\u9274\u8d4f\u8f9e\u5178\u300b [A Critical Anthology of 20t-Century Chinese Explorative Poetry]<\/em>, an ambitious book in the genre in which each poem is accompanied by an individual commentary, first published in 1989 and substantially revised and expanded in 1999.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Click on the image for the full post, with links to more information in Chinese.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Poetry critic Chen Chao \u9648\u8d85 took his own life on October 31.
