I&#8217;ve assembled some of the analysis that&#8217;s recently appeared online in various forms.<\/p>\n<p>First, my highschool classmate &amp; translator from Swedish <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/bj-epstein\/nobels-prize-literature_b_1960357.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&amp;src=sp&amp;comm_ref=false&amp;just_reloaded=1#sb=2718172,b=facebook\" target=\"_blank\">B J Epstein <\/a>has written about the Nobel from an outsider&#8217;s perspective, bringing a discussion she and I had recently into her report.<\/p>\n<p>Next, poet &amp; translator <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bestamericanpoetry.com\/the_best_american_poetry\/2012\/10\/the-politics-of-dont-speak-by-eleanor-goodman.html\" target=\"_blank\">Eleanor Goodman <\/a>talks about the different reactions to the Nobel from within China and without.<\/p>\n<p>Then, translator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bruce-humes.com\/?p=7274\" target=\"_blank\">Bruce Humes<\/a> covers the other side of the issue, demonstrating how &#8220;references deemed unbecoming to China\u2019s image are often &#8216;airbrushed'&#8221; from a published Chinese translation of the <em>NYTimes<\/em> report of Mo Yan&#8217;s prize.
